The road trip continues north with a stop at the distinctive Malhaugen Open-Air Folk Museum, a collection of buildings from every era of Norwegian history including sod-roofed houses, a stave church, and cute pigs and more goats. We then drive through farmland and forests and check out the regionally famous Espa Servicesenter to taste a selection of sweet buns.
We make a stop at Lom Stave Church, one of the biggest stave churches in Norway. Built around the year 1170, it seats about 350 people.
Take a book, leave a book. Norway’s innovative repurposing of old phone booths turns them into mini community libraries.
Leif then leads us high up to the rustic mountain Jotunheimens hotel, lavishly adorned with paintings and sculptures of trolls, and we enjoy a sumptuous group dinner in a lodge-style dining hall with vaulted ceilings.
